It turns out that the words of the text of Lorem Ipsum come from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of the book “On the Ends of Good and Evil” (de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum) by the thinker Cicero, which he wrote in the year 45 BC. This book is a lengthy scholarly treatise on the theory of ethics, and was very popular in the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, “Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..” comes from a line in section 1.20.32 of this book.
