Upon finishing Reach Out GCC’s 45-hour “How to Teach Series,” participants will:

Course Overview and Structure

Module One: Mastering Language Systems (Total: 17.5 hours)

  1. Teaching Grammar (3 sessions – 2.5 hours each)
    Equip students with the ability to use grammatical structures confidently, making lessons more interactive and enjoyable. This module focuses on understanding how grammar functions and addressing the specific challenges learners face.
  2. Teaching Vocabulary (2 sessions – 2.5 hours each)
    Guide students in learning vocabulary that aligns with their proficiency level and needs. Highlight the importance of vocabulary as the foundation for effective communication, enabling students to express their ideas clearly.
  3. Teaching Functional Language (2 sessions – 2.5 hours each)
    Train students to use functional language essential for real-life communication, such as asking for services, making requests, or navigating daily interactions.

Module Two: Developing Language Skills (Total: 16 hours)

  1. Teaching Reading (2 sessions – 2.5 hours each)
    Help students build key reading strategies to grasp the meaning of texts from various fields. Focus on improving receptive skills rather than decoding every individual word.
  1. Teaching Listening (2 sessions – 2.5 hours each)
    Develop students’ listening sub-skills to comprehend spoken materials in different contexts. The emphasis is on enhancing their overall listening competence.
  2. Teaching Speaking (1 session – 3 hours)
    Empower students to communicate confidently and fluently. This session focuses on the practical importance of speaking, often overlooked in language instruction.
  3. Teaching Writing (1 session – 3 hours)
    Help students effectively articulate their ideas through writing. Encourage them to focus on content first and gradually refine their grammar, spelling, and structure.

Module Three: Integrating Skills and Systems (Total: 6 hours)

  1. Teaching Literature (1 session – 3 hours)
    Introduce literature as a tool to enrich students’ critical thinking and cultural awareness. Literature provides an avenue to explore universal themes and develop an appreciation for different perspectives.
  1. Blending Skills and Systems in Lessons (1 session – 3 hours)
    Learn how to seamlessly integrate grammar, vocabulary, and functions within engaging lessons that also enhance reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.

Module Four: Supplementary Topics (Total: 5.5 hours)

  1. Using Technology in Teaching (1 session – 2.5 hours)
    Explore ways to incorporate technology into lesson planning, helping students become independent learners. 
  1. Writing SMART Learning Objectives (1 session – 3 hours)
    Master the art of crafting SMART learning objectives and aligning them with appropriate activities and assessments to ensure effective learning outcomes.

This program consists of four modules delivered over a total of 45 hours across five weeks. Upon successfully completing the full 45-hour course, participants will earn a certificate of achievement from Reach Out GCC.

For a more in-depth learning experience, we recommend pairing the Supplementary Module with any of the Core Modules. If you choose to enroll in individual modules, a certificate of attendance will be provided.
